Our focus in Tot School this week was RAINBOWS! We had lots of fun and did several new activities, as well as some of our favorites. Here are are few of the things we did.
Super Tot still loves most sorting activities. I had him sort buttons by color into a muffin tin this week. I cut round circles of construction paper and placed them in the bottoms of the cups for him to match the colors.

I made Super Tot a Colors Sticker Book. There was one page spread for each color of the rainbow, and a "rainbow" page at the end. He loves stickers and enjoyed finding them for each color page.
I saw this idea for a rainbow collage here, and immediately knew we were going to make our own. I started by cutting a half circle out of cardboard. Then, I painted the rainbow stripes and collected miscellaneous craft and scrap supplies for each color. We did one color at a time and the kids had a blast. We are thrilled with the finished product and have it on display over our mantel!
Super Tot had fun with his Do-A-Dot painters. I wanted him to make a rainbow, so I started by doing the red row of dots. I asked him to do a row of orange under the red, and so on. He wasn't really interested in doing it my way, so I ended up helping for most of the rainbow.
We practiced folding wash cloths this week, which was cute. These washcloths are a super Tot Tool and are available here.
I demonstrated how to fold (1/2, then 1/2 again), and asked Super Tot to fold his own. They didn't look pretty, but I think he did a GREAT job, especially for his first time!

I wanted to do a mosaic rainbow craft, so I had Super Tot help me tear up pieces of construction paper. I thought he would love tearing the paper, but he actually got frustrated and didn't seem to enjoy it much at all.
For the mosaic rainbow, I helped Super Tot help make an arch out of glue. Then I told him what color to make the arch, and he got the correct bowl of torn up paper. Then he just went to work covering the glue with the papers. When he was finished with each row, we would move on and do the next. Once he finished the actual rainbow, he glued white cotton balls at each end for the clouds. He was VERY excited about his "ray-bow" and wanted me to put it up in our school room.

I finally made Super Tot a color wheel to use with his colored clothes pins. First, I cut a circle out of cardboard. Then, I measured and marked my sections. All that was left was to paint! I used the same acrylic paints that I used when I painted the clothes pins, so they are a perfect match. Super Tot was very excited as he watched me paint the color wheel and ran into the school room after his nap to see if it was dry. He loved this activity and wanted to do it every day.
Princess and I made homemade crayons this week, which was a lot of fun. You can read all about them here. They turned out very pretty, and Super Tot really enjoyed them.
