Valentine Trays

Super Tot is 36 months old.

I thought it would be fun to do a Valentine week in tot school.  Here's a look at our trays for the week:

Uppercase / Lowercase Letter Match
Open each heart box and place the correct heart eraser in it based on the letters written on each.  Then, close each box.

 Golf Tee Balance
Hammer each golf tee into the styrofoam block, then balance a plastic jewel atop each tee.
~fine motor~

 Counting Dots
Clip the correct clothes pin to each heart, matching the number written on the pin to the number of dots on the heart.

 Letter Match Word Building
Place the matching wooden alphabet disk on each letter to spell the Valentine words.

Valentine Patterning
Recreate each pattern using the snap cubes in the bowl.

Rosy Hearts
Place one rose in the center of each heart.
~one to one correspondence~

Pompom Play
Place one pompom into each section of the box.  Try creating different patterns.

Valentine Cutting Tray
Cut along the lines to create hearts.  Cut between the small hearts on each strip.

We will begin using a journal this week.  I will post about this separately.

  1. SO many good ideas. I have yet to bust out the valentine's activities. I like the letter matching. Putting the erasers in the box is a different experience then just matching and laying one on the other. I really like this. Thanks for sharing, I'm stopping in this week from the TGIF Linky party and realized it had been several weeks since I've visited your blog. I'll have to go poke around a little.

  2. Love the letter/heart box activity! I actually have those hearts (and erasers!) and didn't know what to do with the hearts. Now I know! Thanks for sharing!

  3. Great ideas! I host a weekly meme called Thematic Thursday. Each week has a theme and this would be perfect for this week's Valentine's theme.

  4. These are awesome ideas! I love the heart cutting practice. I tried teaching my 4 yr old today how to cut a heart this way, but I didn't think to write the lines on the paper for him. Silly me! Thanks for the awesome idea! We will definitely be doing this activity!

  5. I love all your trays! Thanks for all the great ideas.

  6. Awesome trays! I love those little heart boxes, and the golf tee balancing. Oh, I just realized our tots are almost the same age! :)

  7. I'll be keeping an eye out for your post about journaling. I'm planning on starting journaling this week with my 3s and 4s in my daycare.

    1. Corinna, you should check out this link for some ideas:

  8. I'm starting to work on learning fun with Si more and more - what incredible ideas you share here!! You inspire me!

  9. I love your trays! You know, I have not been able to find golf tees at any of our local dollar stores! I really think Boogie would love hammering golf tees so I need to find an inexpensive pack without 40 million white ones somewhere.

I would love for you to share these at WOTT.
